By the time IPL 2020 rolled around in the UAE, Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan were officially a couple, but they preffered to keep their relationship away from public. This was the era of the Covid “bio-bubble,” where players and staff were under heavy security and couldn’t move freely. This made a romantic proposal nearly impossible.
Jasprit, however, was determined. Despite being in the Mumbai Indians camp while Sanjana was working with KKR, he coordinated with IPL officials to pull off a dreamy proposal, as per Bollywood Shaadis. He decorated his balcony with candles, ordered a cake, and had the ring ready. But when Sanjana finally arrived, the “tough” fast bowler turned into a nervous wreck. Sanjana hilariously recalled that she just wanted a glass of water after her long day, but Jasprit kept insistently nudging her towards the balcony. “I was like, let me at least sit down, but he was like, ‘Nahi, balcony mein chalo!’,” she shared once. Eventually, she followed him out to find a scene straight out of a movie.
