Dubai airports update: Flights restart but full schedules yet to return; passengers advised to be flexible about travel

Flights from Dubai have resumed in phases. Dubai has two major airports, and both have started their flight operations gradually. The flight operations have not yet resumed completely. As of March 7, 2026, Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport have been operating with limited flights as operations were being resumed. Authorities confirmed that the airports had reopened after a brief disruption that occurred earlier this month. However, it needs to be noted that there are still possibilities of delays, cancellations, and last-minute changes due to the impact of the regional security situation on aviation in the Middle East.

Although there are some international flights that have resumed, airport authorities indicated that there are restrictions and that safety is still a priority. The disruption started after tensions escalated in the Middle East, prompting several countries to close or restrict their airspace. The disruption affected major travel hubs across the Middle East region of the Gulf, as many flights were cancelled. As tensions escalated, several authorities from the UAE temporarily suspended or restricted airport operations to enable aviation officials to assess the safety of the environment. Thousands of air travellers were affected across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Several air passengers were affected by flight delays or unexpected itinerary changes. Although operations have resumed in phases, aviation authorities are continuing to closely monitor the regional security situation before allowing full schedules to return. Limited flights resume at DXB and DWC

Dubai Airports confirmed that flight operations have begun restarting gradually. However, only selected airlines and routes are currently operating, and schedules may continue to change.

In a post on X on 7 March, Dubai Airports said, “We have partially resumed operations from today, 7 March, with some flights operating out of DXB and DWC. Please do not travel to the airport unless you have been contacted by your airline that your flight is confirmed, as schedules continue to change.” Officials say the phased reopening allows airlines to restore services slowly while maintaining strict safety and operational checks. Some flights connecting the UAE with destinations such as India and several European cities have already resumed, though overall capacity remains limited compared with normal operations.Read more: US offers travel guidance for citizens in Middle East, shares emergency contacts and possible departure options

Emirates restores selected services

Dubai’s flagship carrier, Emirates, has also begun bringing back some of its flights as conditions stabilise. The airline confirmed that selected services are operating again, particularly for passengers who already hold confirmed bookings. In a message posted on X on 7 March, Emirates said, “Customers who have confirmed bookings for this afternoon’s flights may proceed to the airport. This includes customers transiting in Dubai, if their connecting flight is also operating. Customers can check the flight schedule for upcoming flights, as well as book seats to travel: http://emirat.es/nowoperating. Emirates continues to monitor the situation, and we will develop our operational schedule accordingly. We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and patience. The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority and will not be compromised.” The airline added that schedules will continue to be adjusted depending on changes in regional airspace restrictions.

What travellers should know

Passengers planning to travel through Dubai are advised to stay cautious and keep checking for updates before heading to the airport. They need to be cautious of the following things: One need to travel only if their flight has been confirmed by the airlineFlight schedule can change, so be prepared for thatKeep checking the official sites of the airlines or updates from the airport authoritiesBe flexible about travel The authorities have also cautioned people to only rely on official information from the airlines or the airport authorities to avoid confusion or misconceptions. While flights are back to operating, experts say it may take several days for flight schedules to return to normal. Airlines are gradually restoring routes while aviation authorities continue assessing safety conditions in the region. For now, Dubai’s airports remain open but are functioning at reduced capacity, meaning travellers should remain alert for updates before finalising their travel plans.
