The drones came down in the vicinity of the airport as tensions across the Gulf region continue to affect infrastructure and aviation. Officials confirmed that the incident caused injuries but did not disrupt airport operations.Further, Dubai Airports spokesperson added, “Dubai Airports confirms that following a brief airspace closure earlier today, operations at Dubai International (DXB) have now resumed and the airport is open and operating. Dubai Airports is working closely with airlines and relevant authorities to ensure the smooth flow of operations. Customers are advised to check with their airline for the latest updates regarding their flights.”

According to officials, the incident resulted in minor injuries to two Ghanaian nationals and one Bangladeshi national, while one Indian national sustained moderate injuries. This comes on the 12th day of the ongoing Iran crisis, which has already disrupted aviation operations worldwide. Airlines around the globe have canceled, rescheduled, or rerouted flights due to security concerns in Middle Eastern airspace. The countries in this region have closed their airspaces due to security issues regarding missile and drone attacks. This has impacted the major international travel routes between Asia, Europe, and the Gulf countries. The conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran is having a ripple effect on the world, especially regarding aviation and energy. Airlines are having to reroute their flights to avoid these conflict zones, thus increasing flight times and costs. The ongoing conflict is also causing a stir in global energy markets due to security concerns about regional stability, thus increasing fuel costs. Airlines in the United Arab Emirates, such as Emirates and Etihad Airways, have already been operating reduced schedules since this conflict began on February 28. Although there is a gradual resumption of flights, they are still operating below normal capacity. Wednesday’s drone incident adds fresh concerns around aviation security in the region, particularly for Dubai International Airport, which is the world’s busiest airport for international passengers. The airport served close to 100 million passengers last year and is a significant hub that connects Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Despite this incident, it is claimed that airport operations are stable and flights are continuing to operate. No announcements of any changes in airport operations have been made, and it is being closely monitored.
