Utah mom who wrote children's book on grief 'Are You With Me' found guilty of murdering husband

Kouri Richins, the self-published author of children’s book ‘Are You With Me’ dealing with grief, was convicted of aggravated murder of her husband, whom she poisoned with fentanyl. Her husband Eric Richins was killed in March 2022 and Kouri Richins published the book a year later. She slipped five times the lethal dose of fentanyl into his cocktail. The jury deliberated for three hours and announced the verdict.Richins, a real estate agent, was deep in debt and wanted to leave her husband but didn’t because of his money, the prosecution said. She was planning a future with another man with the life insurance policies that she opened for her husband without his knowledge. Prosecutors showed the jury text messages between Richins and Robert Josh Grossman, the man with whom she was allegedly having an affair, in which she fantasized about leaving her husband, gaining millions in a divorce and marrying Grossman.

Luxury prisons for the rich America: Things Richins searched on Google

Richins’ search history included ‘what is a lethal dose of fentanyl, luxury prisons for the rich America and ‘if someone of poisoned what does it go down on the death certificate as’ etc. After poisoning her husband to death, she called 911 and the prosecution said that was not the “sound of a wife becoming a widow”. “It’s the sound of a wife becoming a black widow,” they said. Before her arrest in May 2023, Richins self-published the children’s book about coping with the loss of a parent. During the hearing of the case, the lead investigator revealed that she actually paid a ghostwriting company to write the book for her. The book says it aims to create peace and comfort for children who have lost a loved one and follows a young boy who questions whether his father is with him during special moments like birthdays, Christmases and his first day of school.
