Jacob Young reveals that he was once addicted to opioids
While appearing on the ‘Imperfectly Perfect’ podcast, the actor got candid about the struggles he has faced over the year. Young revealed that for almost 7 good years of his life, he was fully addicted to opioids. “I went through seven years of my life, wasted on opioids – still trying to figure out what was wrong with me, but I didn’t know. It was just needing to numb… It was the only thing that made me feel normal,” he revealed. He mentioned that this happened after he was prescribed opioids after a surgery.Further providing details about the matter, the actor shared that he had a turbulent upbringing, which ended up having an effect on his life even in his adult years. When he got addicted, he had a hard time dealing with everything, though the hardest part was sharing the news with his wife, Christen Steward. He still sat her down and explained everything to her, and during the podcast, he revealed that she was fully supportive of him and was there to help the 46-year-old every step of the way.
Not Jacob Young’s first run-in with substance abuse
During the podcast episode, the actor provided more details about his upbringing and how he first got into using substances. He cited that the first time he was introduced to something like this was through marijuana. He revealed that at the age of 14, he used to smoke it with some of his friends. Later on, when fame found him in his mid-20s, the actor revealed that he turned to alcohol to cope with all of the things that were happening in his life. He also revealed that at one point, he started using cocaine. When he started explaining why he did what he did, Young revealed that the place and the people that he was surrounded by all the time played a huge role in all of this.
