Despite the lack of clarity, DC captain Axar Patel struck a more optimistic tone, expressing confidence that the left-arm quick could join the squad at any time. “Starc can come anytime, there’s no particular date. If he doesn’t come, there’s no temptation to replace a left-armer with a left armer. Natarajan has been doing well and 100% fit. If needed on Starc and Impact player,” Axar said. He also reiterated his reservations about the Impact Player rule, adding that as an all-rounder, he is not entirely in favour of it.Backing Axar’s optimism, DC’s Director of Cricket Venugopal Rao offered a positive outlook on Starc’s eventual arrival. “Starc is coming. Only waiting for the clearance from Cricket Australia,” he said, suggesting that the delay is procedural rather than a long-term concern.Badani further explained that Starc’s availability hinges on fitness and workload management. “It depends on when he bowls and gets the nod,” he added, underlining that the final call rests with Cricket Australia’s medical and management team.Starc may miss initial matches for DCStarc, 36, is expected to miss at least the initial phase of the tournament, with Cricket Australia reportedly keeping a close watch on his workload. His absence, even if temporary, would be a significant factor for Delhi Capitals, given his role as the team’s pace spearhead. The left-arm pacer was DC’s second-highest wicket-taker last season, picking up 14 wickets in 11 matches. The franchise had retained him after acquiring his services for Rs 11.75 crore at the auction.Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 1.
