Box office collection day 4 update

The upward momentum continued on Day 3 (Sunday) with Rs 1.05 crore. The occupancy also improved from 21.3 percent on Friday to 29.7 percent on Sunday.

Steady growth

‘Happy Raj’ benefited from weekend footfall. The steady increase in collections shows that the film found some attention among family audiences. Directed by Maria Raja Elanchezian, the film explores themes of love, family, and social insecurity.

Viral fan moment

Amid its theatrical run, a heartfelt moment involving G.V. Prakash Kumar has gone viral on social media. In a video shared by the actor, a female fan is seen hugging him and breaking down in tears. She praises the film and speaks about its emotional impact.Reacting to the moment, G.V. Prakash Kumar shared the video and wrote, “This one praise = 1000 awards thanks sister.”

Critical reception

The film has received mixed reviews from critics. ETimes noted, “Happy is good-intentioned but a bit of a knobhead, unlucky in love and slow on the uptake. His dad is a miserly school teacher, and the combination of the two has made Happy something of a local joke. The body shaming that begins with Kathamuthu’s nickname doesn’t stay with him, it carries across to Happy and stretches across generations, revisited so often that what starts as a running gag turns into something oddly mean-spirited. When Happy lands a job at an IT company in Bangalore and meets Kavya (Sri Gouri Priya), the film finds its groove. Kavya actually likes him, but her condition is that his family formally approach hers. Her father Rajiv (Abbas, returning to Tamil cinema after over a decade) is an NRI, and when he collides with Kathamuthu, the culture clash between the city-bred father and the village traditionalist becomes the film’s engine.”DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and the data in this article are compiled from public and industry sources.
