Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on Purnima tithi of Chaitra month. Purnima tithi will begin from 07:06 AM on April 1 and it will end at 07:41 AM on April 2, 2026. Hanuman Jayanti is going to be celebrated on April 2, 2026.

Hanuman Jayanti 2026: Significance

Hanuman Jayanti is one of the most prominent Hindu festivals, which is dedicated to worship Lord Hanuman ji. The whole country celebrates the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman. He symbolizes devotion, loyalty, courage, strength and power. He is known as te chiranjeevi or immortal and he is still present on earth. Lord Hanuman is also known as Kesari Nandan and Anjani Putra as he was born to Mata Anjanai and Vanar Raj Kesari. He incarnated in Treta Yuga when Lord Shri Ram took birth. According to Hindu scriptures, Hanuman ji is also known as Rudra Avatar of Lord Shiva. He is believed to possess Ashta Siddhi (Eight supernatural powers) and Nav Nidhi’s (Nine divine treasures). He is also believed to be the son of the wind god, known as Pawan Putra. In his childhood, he displayed various extraordinary powers and he once tried to catch the sun as he thought that it was a fruit. Sundarkand is totally based on the story of Lord Hanuman because in childhood, his mother used to call him “Sundar” with affection. People known him as an ardent devotee of Shri Ram, who played an important role in his life to fight the battle against Ravana.

Hanuman Jayanti 2026: Celebration

Devotees celebrate this day with great grandeur and devotion. They perform puja by lighting a diya with jasmine oil in front of the idol of Lord Hanuman and chant various mantras, stotrams, sundar kand and hanuman chalisa to seek blessings of the Lord. They visit temple and offer sindoor, jasmine oil, meetha paan, coconut, chola, laddoos as bhog prasad. Observing fast is also one of the best way to seek his divine protection and blessings. Many devotees organise sundarkand path at home. Temples are decked up with flowers and decorated with lights to celebrate birthday of Hanuman ji.
