Hanuman Jayanti 2026: Significance

Hanuman Jayanti, also known as Hanuman Janmotsav, people praise Lord Hanuman as the entire nation commemorates the anniversary of Lord Hanuman ji’s birth. Hindus place a high religious and spiritual value on this auspicious day. Lord Hanuman was born to mother Anjani and father Kesari on the Purnima tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra. Another name for him is Pawan Putra (the son of Vayu). He symbolizes strength, power, courage, fearlessness, dedication, loyalty, and knowledge. One of the Chiranjeevis, or immortals, who reside on Earth is Hanuman ji. He was born at the same time as Lord Shri Ram in the Treta Yuga. Devotees of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shri Ram celebrate this unique day with great purity and devotion. Many followers read the Ramayana or Sundarkand (a section of the sacred text Ramacharitmanas), visit temples, chant mantras, and offer their heartfelt prayers to Lord Hanuman.

Hanuman Jayanti 2026 Step-by-Step puja vidhi guide

1. Sankalp

You should wake up early morning and take a holy bath. You should take a water in your hand and take a sankalp of observing fast.

2. Lighting a diya

Take a wooden plank and place an idol of Lord Hanuman. Light a diya with desi ghee in front of the idol and incense sticks.

3. Offer sindoor and oil

You should offer sindoor, chola, jasmine oil to Lord Hanuman ji.

4. Offer bhog prasad and flowers

You are advised to offer boondi, boondi laddoos to Lord Hanuman and seek his blessings.

5. Chanting mantras/prayers

To invoke the idol, one must chant Hanuman mantras and hanuman chalisa and seek the blessings of Lord Hanuman ji.

6. Recite Aarti

To conclude the puja rituals, you should recite the aarti of Hanuman ji.
