Telugu horror-comedy ‘Rakasa,’ produced by Niharika Konidela, opened to positive to mixed reviews and a decent box office collection of Rs 2.60 crore on its first day. The film, starring Sangeeth Shobhan and Nayan Sarika, garnered praise for its comedy and climax, though some writing aspects were noted as mediocre. It outperformed Sharwanand’s ‘Biker’ on opening day despite fewer shows.

The Telugu horror-comedy film ‘Rakasa,’ directed by Manasa Sharma of ‘Bench Life’ fame and backed by actor-turned-producer Niharika Konidela under her banner, was released on Friday. The movie, which stars Sangeeth Shobhan and Nayan Sarika in the lead roles, opened to positive to mixed reviews and had a decent outing at the box office on its first day.According to a report by Sacnilk, on Day 1, the movie collected a net of Rs 2.60 crore across 1,318 shows and the total gross collections amount to Rs 2.99 crore.

‘Rakasa’ clashes with ‘Biker’

Released alongside Sharwanand’s motocross film ‘Biker,’ ‘Rakasa’ seems to have had a better opening day as the sports drama made over Rs 2.10 crore. However, one must mention that Sharwanand’s film had 2,033 shows on day 1, which is more than Niharika Konidela’s film.

Theatrical release

Speaking of the film’s theatrical attendance, it had an overall 37.06% occupancy with morning shows at 21.31% and afternoon shows increasing to 34.62%. A slight increase in attendance occurred during the evening shows to 35%, wrapping up the day at 37.77% at night.

Social media reaction

The initial reaction on social media for the film has been largely positive to mixed. Fans shared that they enjoyed the funny elements of the film and praised the backstories featured. However, they also shared that some characters could have been handled better, reflecting mediocre writing. On the other hand, some netizens felt the film has decent comedy, where only some parts generate laughs. Some also applauded the film for a good climax and music, while fans added cheerful words for Niharika Konidela for her role as producer. The film also features Ashish Vidyarthi, Brahmaji, Tanikella Bharani, Vennela Kishore and Rohini among others. Music is composed by Anudeep Dev.
