The kitchen is likely to become the hottest part of your home when you cook during the summer. Cooking using gas ovens and stoves with little ventilation makes heat accumulate very fast. You can implement some easy and practical kitchen cooling tricks to ensure that cooking remains enjoyable and easy during summer. Reduce kitchen heat by changing cooking habits

There are several simple methods to help you maintain cool temperatures in your kitchen, but one of the easiest ways is to consider how and when you cook your food. Cooking appliances emit significant amounts of heat, which is why they become one of the main factors responsible for the increase in the ambient temperature.

  • Cook at dawn or dusk during cooler times
  • Prepare your food at once instead of preparing it multiple times
  • Select food recipes that do not need much time on the stove
  • Go for uncooked dishes such as salads, fruits, and sandwiches

According to Food Fire’s Knives, it is recommended to finish cooking before it gets too hot outside, as “this will avoid heat later in the day.”

Improve ventilation to keep your kitchen cool

A good flow of air is necessary to remove heat, smoke, and moisture from your kitchen. The lack of ventilation causes heat to get trapped, making the kitchen unbearable.

  • Install an exhaust fan or chimney during cooking
  • Ventilate through windows
  • Have a fan positioned near a window to expel heated air
  • Leave the doors slightly open for better air circulation

‘The benefit of kitchen exhaust fan use after cooking – An experimental assessment’ states that “exhaust fans aid in removal of excess heat and steam from cooking.” Such a measure goes a long way in enhancing indoor comfort.

Block heat and use smart cooling tricks

At other times, not only does cooking cause the heating of the kitchen, but also the entry of sun rays and poor insulation. The regulation of heat in the kitchen from outside becomes imperative.

  • Close the shutters or curtains during the daytime to shield yourself from the sun’s rays

  • Do not use the oven. Opt for smaller appliances, such as the microwave
  • Do not clutter your kitchen so as to have efficient ventilation

Avoid using the oven because you will cut back on heat production.Cooling your kitchen in summer is never done by a single approach. Rather, it involves a combination of several practices that contribute to creating a more comfortable cooking environment.
