After their first collaboration fell through in 2024, Tollywood superstar Ram Charan and acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali are reportedly joining forces once again. Reportedly, the actor is set to headline SLB’s next production, a pan-India historical adventure drama set in a jungle.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali to collaborate with Ram Charan for a pan-India film
The film has an interesting backstory. It traces its origins to ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’, which Bhansali was originally slated to produce. According to the Mid-Day report, “Originally KV Vijayendra Prasad had written the script for ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’, but that didn’t shape up as expected. So, taking that material as the starting point, the story was rewritten by ‘Gullak 2’ and ‘Shakti Shalini’ writer Durgesh Singh.”The script has since been significantly reimagined. The report added, “The story is essentially a jungle adventure drama but set in the past. The script has been adapted to suit Ram’s personality. It will be helmed by a top Bollywood director.”For those unaware, Charan and Bhansali had previously explored working together on a period drama based on author Amish Tripathi’s ‘The Legend of Suheldev’, but that project never moved forward. The report added, “Bhansali and Ram Charan were earlier in talks for the story of Maharaja Suheldev. While that didn’t work out, this is an equally ambitious project.”

The project is being positioned as a large-scale pan-India film. It will be shot primarily in Hindi and released with dubbed versions in Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada, making it a truly national production aimed at audiences across India.
