From ‘Chura Liya Hai tumne Jo’, ‘Abhi Na Jao Chodhkar’, and ‘Kajra Mohabbat Wala’ to songs like ‘Khallas’, the iconic singer has worked on a lot of projects, spanning over more than 8 decades. During her appearance on ‘India’s Best Dancer’, Asha Bhosle sat in as a guest judge. She opened up about how she used to work on some of her songs. Sharing her experience, the legendary playback singer revealed that at the last minute, she was asked to change her voice while singing ‘Khatouba.’She further provided some context and added, “Music director ne kaha ki yeh gana…ladki ko aise karna hai, waise karna hai, log usko pakad rahe hai….tum dar gai ho…toh gaane me (gasp) aise karna pada” (The music director told me that in the song, the girl is going here and there and is being grabbed, and said that I would have to add gasps in the song.)She then had to restructure the whole song, which worried the director, who she shared was worried about how she would sing the word ‘Khatouba.’ Bhosle said at the time that she had to think a lot, after which she drew inspiration from how songs are sung and made in Middle Eastern countries. She then belted out the lyrics of the song, surprising everyone on set. She hilariously added that the original version sounded like Marathi Lavani music, making everyone laugh at her comment.
