There’s a new crime drama coming, and Sylvester Stallone just kicked off the hype with one snapshot. Sylvester Stallone shared a behind-the-scenes pic with Samuel L. Jackson and let everyone know the Frisco King spin-off is officially filming. His caption, “From one king to another,” wasn’t just about the script. It felt like a nod to a passing of the torch, and fans immediately started buzzing. The photo shows Stallone and Jackson, scripts in hand, looking calm but unmistakably at home on the set. These two legends side by side? You don’t see that every day. It marks a real shift for this franchise, and one can tell there’s something big brewing.

Sylvester Stallone’s photo with Samuel L. Jackson: What happened?

With one post, Sylvester Stallone confirmed what insiders had been whispering: ‘Frisco King’, the long-awaited ‘Tulsa King’ spin-off, is rolling cameras. It’s more than just a teaser; the shot puts Stallone, the “original king,” next to Jackson, who’s now leading this new chapter. Stallone’s “From one king to another” doesn’t just hype Jackson up; it hints at a shared universe where legacies, crime, and power all crash together. And the timing isn’t random. Filming just started in Texas, mainly around Fort Worth.

‘Frisco King’: What is it?

The show, ‘Frisco King’, spins out of ‘Tulsa King’, which is Stallone’s first starring TV crime series. Taylor Sheridan (‘Yellowstone’, remember?) dreamed up this universe, and he’s not easing up. Originally, the project had a different title, but they switched settings and tone, sharpening things up and planting it right in Texas.Per The Hawk, Samuel L. Jackson plays Russell Lee Washington Jr., a hardened hitman with deep criminal ties. We actually met his character in ‘Tulsa King Season 3’, so he’s not coming out of nowhere. Washington is a former New York mob enforcer; after he refuses an important job, he heads to Texas for a “fresh start.” Of course, because this is a TV show, that new life involves building a new criminal empire from scratch. It’s got all the classic mob beats, but this series digs deeper into things like redemption, loyalty, and second chances. One gets the sense it’s more about a man wrestling with his past than just another mafia shoot-out.So, how does it connect to ‘Tulsa King’?First, you gotta know where it started: ‘Tulsa King’ follows Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Stallone), who comes out of prison after 25 years, gets banished to Oklahoma, and creates a whole new operation. The show landed big for Paramount+, blending dark humor and gritty storytelling, and Stallone nailed it.Notably, ‘Frisco King’ doesn’t replace ‘Tulsa King’; it opens up that world. The two shows connect through old prison ties and shared friends (or enemies), especially between Manfredi and Jackson’s character. Sheridan’s building the kind of TV universe where every fresh story grows naturally from the last.As for the cast, both stars come in with heavy histories. Stallone, with Rocky and Rambo behind him, has found his TV groove. Jackson’s no stranger to big roles either, but ‘Frisco King’ marks the first time he’s headlining a TV drama. That’s a milestone.Behind the scenes, Taylor Sheridan isn’t mailing it in, as he’s writing all eight episodes for Season 1 himself. The Texas setting matters too; it’s a stark contrast to your usual New York or Chicago mob tale.‘Frisco King’ will reportedly stream on Paramount+. However, the exact release date is still under wraps.
