Skanda Sashti is dedicated to honor Lord Skanda or Kartikey. Every month, the day falls on Sashti Tithi of Shukla paksha. This month, Skanda Sashti is observed during the month of Vaishakha. Skanda Sashti is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Devotees observe fast and seek the blessings of Lord Skanda on this sacred day. This month, Skanda Sashti is going to be observed on April 22, 2026.

Skanda Sashti 2026: Significance

In Hinduism, Skanda Sashti is very significant day. Lord Murugan is worshipped on this auspicious day of Skanda Sashti, which is primarily observed with great devotion and trust in South India. Devotees offer their sincere prayers to Lord Kartikeya on this day, which is regarded as sacred. He is revered as a warrior deity in South India. He goes by several names, including Skanda and Murugan. He rides a peacock. People, who worship him with deep faith and devotion are believed to be freed from all negativity and dark magic. It is possible to obtain all the pleasures and happiness in this life. Devotees worship him with good intentions to recieve spiritual growth. This fast is regarded as one of the most potent fasts and the ideal day to develop a divine bond with the god.

Skanda Sashti 2026: Puja Rituals

1. Take a holy bath as soon as you wake up.2. Make rangoli with rice flour at the door’s entrance and tidy your house and puja space.3. Make the deity some bhog prasad.4. Place an idol of Lord Kartikeya on a wooden plank, light a diya with desi ghee, offer fruits, and present a garland.5. Take a water-filled kalash.6. Go to the temple and use panchamrit to perform abhishekam to the idol of Lord Karitkeya.7. Offer a coconut to Lord Skanda to ward off all bad forces.8. Give all of the offerings to Lord Murugan.9. Chant different mantras to express your appreciation and ask for blessings.10. Tamasik acts should be avoided by the devotees.11. People can eat sattvik meals and break their fast in the evening.
