‘Michael’ Twitter reviews: Michael Jackson biopic draws packed theater reactions as fans defend it amid mixed criticism
The highly anticipated biopic ‘Michael,’ directed by Antoine Fuqua, is stirring excitement among fans who are raving about its electrifying concert scenes and deep emotional resonance. This cinematic journey traces the iconic path of Michael Jackson, peaking with his legendary 1988 Wembley show.

‘Michael’ has sparked strong reactions after early screenings and fan videos from theaters began circulating on Twitter (now X). The 2026 biopic, directed by Antoine Fuqua, follows Michael Jackson’s rise from Gary, Indiana, to global pop stardom, with the story building toward his 1988 Wembley Stadium concert. While some viewers have praised the film’s concert scenes and emotional pull, criticism has focused on its careful, family-backed portrait of the singer and its limited handling of the more difficult chapters in his life.

‘Michael’ movie’s fan reactions go viral on X

Several posts shared on X (previously Twitter) showed loud theater responses during screenings of ‘Michael’. One post from the Los Angeles premiere called the moment “Just so heartwarming.” Another post said, “This could only happen with Michael. This is his legacy, the love of the public.” A separate reaction read, “Honestly, don’t listen to the critics or the trash media, make up your own mind. It’s worth the trip. The movie isn’t perfect but you’ll have a great time.” Other clips showed packed theaters reacting to the film’s concert sequences. One post claimed that Allu Arjun watched ‘Michael’ at Allu Cinemas in Kokapet and referred to him as the “INDIAN MICHAEL JACKSON.” Another post summed up the mood around the screenings by saying, “These reactions to the #michaelmovie.”

Michael’s biopic review details and cast

The film stars Juliano Krue Valdi as young Michael and Jaafar Jackson, the son of Jermaine Jackson and Michael’s nephew, as the older singer. Both make their acting debuts. The film covers the first 30 years of Jackson’s life and presents his journey through a 13-track tribute structure, similar to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.The story shows Michael growing up in a working-class home with eight siblings. Colman Domingo plays his father, Joe Jackson, whose discipline slips into cruelty in belt-wielding scenes. Nia Long plays Katherine Jackson, while Miles Teller appears as lawyer and manager John Branca. The film addresses Michael’s isolation, vitiligo, rhinoplasty, Bubbles, Neverland, Peter Pan references, and his desire for perfection. In one scene, he tells a doctor, “I have to be perfect.” In another, Branca tells him, “There’s no one like you and there never will be.”The review material notes that the Jackson family’s producer credits give weight to the legacy angle. It also states that Janet Jackson and Paris Jackson distanced themselves from the film over accuracy concerns. The film reportedly dropped an early storyline about Jordan Chandler after settlement-related concerns and later underwent reshoots estimated at USD 10 million to USD 15 million, taking the budget to about USD 170 million.
