The impact of ‘Kantara’ in 2022 was huge on Rishab Shetty‘s life and career. The film, which he acted in, wrote, and directed was a pan-India blockbuster. There was a connection to roots and culture. Before ‘Kantara,’ Rishab had limited consideration in Kannada cinema. But he became pan-India with the film’s blockbuster success. Not only that he became a great big star, but also he had the power to take up bigger and better films.

Rishab Shetty’s massive pay hike

According to Filmibeat, Rishab Shetty reportedly earned around Rs. 4 crore for his work as actor, director, and writer for the 2018 release ‘Kantara.’ The film went on to collect Rs 400 crore plus at the worldwide box office and was a huge blockbuster. Then, for ‘Kantara: Chapter 1,’ his salary increased by nearly 2400 percent. This means he reportedly earned close to Rs 100 crore for the prequel. This huge jump clearly shows how much his market value has grown after the first film’s success.

Apart from the high salary, Rishab Shetty also entered into a profit-sharing deal with the production house. He reportedly received an additional Rs. 50 crore depending on the film’s box office performance. Thus, it signifies that he will earn even more from ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. Such contracts are usually provided to A-listers, which shows Rishab has now become part of the elite. According to Sacnilk, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has become a blockbuster, collecting over Rs. 845 crores worldwide. Made on a budget of around Rs 125 crore, the film delivered huge returns, crossing Rs 622 crore in India alone, along with strong overseas numbers. This success has taken Rishab to the top league.

What’s next for Rishab Shetty?

‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ was made on a much bigger scale, with grand visuals, action, and mythological elements. A massive war sequence with around 500 trained fighters and a team of nearly 3,000 people shows the film’s scale.
