Fred Liu, a TikTok creator and former boyfriend of Evelyn Ha, is now part of a growing public dispute that already involves serious legal charges and very different stories from both sides. The situation started after Ben Pasternak was arrested in New York on April 21, 2026, over an alleged incident on March 31 at a Manhattan hotel. He faces one count of strangulation and two counts of assault. Pasternak has pleaded not guilty and is expected in court on June 11. After his arrest, Pasternak shared a video where he denied all accusations. He said clearly, “I’m not physically aggressive in any way at all,” and described himself as “super gentle.” He then made counter-claims, saying Evelyn Ha was the one who acted aggressively during their relationship. He also said he felt controlled and cut off from friends. Now, Fred Liu has stepped in. In a public post, he said some parts of Pasternak’s story felt similar to what he experienced in his own past relationship with Ha. His statement has added a new layer to an already serious and sensitive case. It is important to note that these are still claims and counter-claims. The case is ongoing, and no final legal decision has been made.

Fred Liu said he decided to speak after watching Ben Pasternak’s video. He wrote on X and Instagram, “During that relationship, I experienced things that were consistent with parts of what Ben described. Including physical violence.”He also explained why he stayed quiet before. Liu said, “A version of events was shared publicly,” but added that it “did not fully reflect my experience.” He shared that at the time, he chose not to respond because he wanted to protect Ha’s privacy. He also said he was young and did not know how to handle the situation.Liu made it clear he is not trying to speak for anyone else. He said, “My experience and truth did not fully align with the narrative that had been presented.” His words suggest that what people saw earlier may not show the full picture, at least from his side.At the same time, Ben Pasternak has made several detailed claims. He said he faced behavior like “hitting, pulling, scratching… digging her nails into me.” He also said he has proof, including photos and a medical report, and that their couples therapist knew about the situation. His team also claimed that during the March 31 incident, Evelyn Ha “flew into a rage.”On the legal side, the charges against Pasternak are serious. Strangulation is considered a felony. According to court records, the charges are tied to the same March 31 hotel incident. Even with his denial, the legal process will decide what actually happened. As for Fred Liu, he is known online as “asapliu.” He has over 1.7 million followers on TikTok, where he shares comedy and point-of-view videos. Until now, he was not part of this public issue, which is why his statement is getting attention. This situation now has multiple voices, each telling a different version of events. What remains clear is that the case is still open, and all claims are being looked at through the legal process. No final judgment has been given yet.
