Ekadashi is one of the most powerful days to gain spiritual growth. This day is dedicated to honor Lord Vishnu. On this auspicious day, devotees worship Shri Hari Vishnu with immense devotion and purity. There are 24 Ekadashi observances in a year that falls twice a month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. Ekadashi means the day falls on 11th day of both waxing and waning phases of Moon. The day is associated with devotion, spiritual growth, enlightenment, self discipline and purification. This fast is extremely powerful that it purifies your body, mind and soul. On this potent day, devotees offer their sincere prayers to Lord Vishnu and seek blessings by practicing self discipline. The day is powerful to strengthen the spiritual path. Ekadashi in May 2026: Significance

Ekadashi holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. Ekadashi falls twice a month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. This is one of the most auspicious and sacred day to perform puja rituals associated with Lord Vishnu. This day has a spiritual importance and it is all about detachment and self control. In this materialistic world, which is full of uncertainties, people often look for the inner peace and spiritual growth so once you understand the importance of spirituality, inner peace, and salvation then this is the best way to get away from this material world and find serenity. Ekadashi is a reminder that you need to pause for sometime and give preference to your spiritual growth. Devotees offer their sincere prayers to Lord Shri Hari and control their senses by spending time in prayer, chanting mantras, and reading holy scriptures. This fast is so powerful that it can remove all your negative karma that have been done by you in the past birth and it brings you peace of mind.

Ekadashi in May 2026: Puja Rituals

1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath before starting puja rituals. Better wake up during brahma muhurat. 2. Do Naam Japa, which is considered truly meritorious during brahma muhurat on the day of Ekadashi. 3. Take a wooden plank and place an idol of Lord Vishnu. 4. Light a diya with desi ghee, adorn the idol with new clothes and yellow flower garland. 5. Pick one or two Lord Vishnu mantras and chant 108 times to invoke the idol. 6. Without offering tulsi patra (basil leaves), puja is considered incomplete. But tulsi patra should be plucked on the day of Ekadashi. Better pluck these leaves a day before. 7. Offer five seasonal fruits, dry fruits and home made sweets for bhog prasad. 8. Recite the Ekadashi katha and complete your puja by chanting aarti. 9. The fast is broken on Dwadashi tithi but some people who can not bear hunger, break their fast in the evening and eat fast recommended sattvik food and others break their fast next day on Dwadashi tithi.
