NEW DELHI: The injury to Angkrish Raghuvanshi during Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2026 clash against Mumbai Indians quickly sparked curiosity among fans, with many asking on social media: Who is Tejasvi Singh Dahiya?Raghuvanshi was eventually replaced by Tejasvi Singh Dahiya as KKR’s concussion substitute at Eden Gardens. The incident took place in the 11th over when Raghuvanshi sprinted in and stretched fully in an attempt to grab a catch. During the effort, he collided with Varun Chakravarthy while chasing the ball and appeared to hurt his finger.The youngster looked uncomfortable immediately after the collision and was soon taken off the field by the KKR physio. Dahiya first came in as the substitute wicketkeeper before officially replacing Raghuvanshi as the concussion substitute during KKR’s chase.

Who is Tejasvi Singh Dahiya?

The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Delhi shot into the limelight after an impressive campaign in the Delhi Premier League, which eventually earned him an IPL deal with KKR.Despite entering the IPL 2026 auction with a modest base price of Rs 30 lakh, Dahiya was snapped up by Kolkata Knight Riders for a massive Rs 3 crore. KKR had to fend off bidding competition from Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals to secure his signature.His stock rose sharply after a remarkable Delhi Premier League season where he amassed 339 runs at an average of 48.43 and an explosive strike rate of 190.45.Dahiya also smashed 29 sixes and scored four half-centuries during the tournament, performances that made IPL franchises take notice.Interestingly, the Delhi youngster had gone unsold in the IPL 2025 auction before turning things around dramatically within a year through consistent domestic performances.Coming from an academic family, with both parents serving as mathematics and economics teachers, Dahiya’s rise from being unsold to landing a Rs 3 crore IPL contract has been one of the standout stories of the IPL 2026 season.
