Abhimanyu Singh reacts to Saurabh Dwivedi’s trolling after acting debut in Saif Ali Khan’s Kartavya: ‘Saanp ke bill me haath nahi daalte'

Abhimanyu Singh has weighed in on the trolling faced by journalist Saurabh Dwivedi after his acting debut in Kartavya. Speaking in a recent interview, the actor said that while every profession deserves respect, acting is a completely different craft that cannot be mastered overnight.Abhimanyu, who has been earning praise for his work in South Indian cinema across multiple languages, also opened up about why he feels talent often gets recognised outside home turf first, drawing parallels with late actor Irrfan Khan.

‘Ghar ki murgi daal barabar’

When asked why Hindi cinema did not give him the kind of journey his talent deserved despite South filmmakers appreciating him, Abhimanyu said that people often search far away for opportunities while ignoring talent close to them.“Kai baar hum opportunities aur kisi bahut behtareen cheez ki talaash mein door dekh rahe hote hain, jabki woh cheez yahin hoti hai. Bas out of focus hoti hai. Ghar ki murgi daal barabar wali baat hai,” he told Hindi Rush.

‘Irrfan bhai ko bhi pehle recognition nahi mila tha’

Recalling Irrfan Khan’s journey, Abhimanyu added that Bollywood started valuing the actor differently only after Hollywood recognised him.“Irrfan bhai mere bade bhai jaise the. Jab tak Hollywood ne unko recognition nahi diya, Bollywood ne unko us nazar se nahi dekha. Jab logon ne dekha ki ‘arre yeh actor Hollywood pahunch gaya’, tab unko main lead milne lage,” he shared. The actor further reflected on why South filmmakers may have embraced him more readily than the Hindi film industry. “Ho sakta hai main kisi group ka hissa nahi hoon. Ho sakta hai main utna social nahi hoon. Ya shayad main apna PR theek se nahi kar raha,” he said.

‘Instagram followers se film hit nahi hoti’

Abhimanyu also spoke about the growing obsession with social media popularity in casting decisions. According to him, follower count does not guarantee box office success.“Ek casting wale ne mujhe bola ki main hero, heroine aur main villain ko chhod kar baaki actors followers ke basis pe cast kar raha hoon,” he recalled. The actor said he later pointed out that despite casting social media stars, films still flop. “Social media alag game hai. Phone pe kisi ko scroll karte hue dekhna aur paise kharch karke theatre mein dekhna bahut bada difference hai,” he explained.

Abhimanyu Singh on Saurabh Dwivedi trolling

Reacting to the criticism around Saurabh Dwivedi’s acting debut in Kartavya, Abhimanyu said every profession requires a unique skill set.“Aap ek field mein bahut acche ho, iska matlab yeh nahi ki doosri field mein bhi utne hi acche ho jaoge. Woh bahut acche journalist hain. Lekin acting alag cheez hai,” he said.Using a metaphor to make his point, he added, “Ho sakta hai aap bichchu ka zeher utaarna jaante ho, lekin iska matlab yeh nahi ki aap saanp ke bill mein haath daal do.”At the same time, the actor clarified that he has no issue with influencers or social media personalities entering films. “Har kisi ka ghar chal raha hai, woh bhi ek field hai. Jo log isko encash kar pa rahe hain, I’m happy for them,” he stated.

‘Isi liye main kam interviews deta hoon’

Known for his blunt opinions, Abhimanyu admitted that he often avoids interviews because he tends to speak his mind without filters.“Main hold back nahi karta. Jo dil mein hota hai, mooh pe aa jaata hai. Isi liye main kam interviews deta hoon. Pata nahi meri kaunsi baat kisiko buri lag jaaye,” he said. The actor also revealed that despite years of struggle, he has consciously tried not to become bitter. Sharing an anecdote about working with Vikram, he said the Tamil superstar’s grounded nature inspired him deeply.“Success ke saath bhi wahi insaan rehna chahiye. Ab tak maine khud ko bitterness se bachake rakha hai,” Abhimanyu concluded.
