Bengaluru software engineer Shailendra Yadav, whose father was moved to tears while reading his offer letter, shared that the company later sent a special joining kit not to him, but to the man who had stood behind his journey all along.In the video, Yadav’s father can be seen opening the hamper with visible pride. The package included a T-shirt, a cap with “Dad” written on it, a plant, a pen, a mug and chocolates. Along with the gifts, Amazon sent a handwritten-style note that captured the emotion behind the gesture: “Every great achievement starts with someone who believed first. We saw your reaction to your son’s offer letter, and we couldn’t help but celebrate you too. Congratulations! you helped build the kind of person we’re proud to have on our team. – Team Amazon”.

A father’s tears, and a son’s milestone
Yadav had first shared a moving video in April, showing his father reading his Amazon offer letter for the first time. The father, who was visibly emotional and struggled slightly with English, still held the letter with unmistakable pride.Along with the original clip, Yadav explained how much the moment meant to him. “I come from farmer’s family where access to proper education was limited, and I’m the first person in my family to become an engineer. My father worked multiple private jobs to support my education and made sure I got the best opportunities, even when it wasn’t easy for him,” he said. He added that he had not told his father about the job in advance. “I studied hard and eventually secured an SDE-2 offer from Amazon. The moment in the video was when I showed him the offer letter for the first time -I hadn’t told him earlier and surprised him directly,” Yadav said.
Amazon’s gesture turns personal
The new Instagram video shared by Yadav showed that Amazon had gone a step further after the earlier clip resonated widely online. This time, the company acknowledged the father’s role in the journey itself.Sharing the video, Yadav wrote: “He once held my offer letter in his hands and couldn’t hold back his tears. That’s when I realized this dream was never mine alone. Every late night, every sacrifice, every silent prayer, he was a part of all of it long before I was. Today, when Amazon sent a joining kit for him too, seeing his smile made this moment even more special.” He added, “Some achievements stay with you forever. This one will always belong to both of us.”
