H-1B Redditor says he applied to 1500+ job openings across US, Internet says 'go back home'
H-1B Redditor says got no response even after applying for 1500+ jobs.

A Reddit post by an individual who claimed to be an H-1B visa holder went viral as he said he applied to over 1,500 roles across the US over the past few months and did not get even one call from any recruiter. The Redditor gave his background that he is not a fresher and has an H-1B visa and has been working for more than three years now as a data engineer in Ohio. But his present company has decided not to renew his H-1B application and that’s why he is on a job hunt.“I have hands-on industry experience building pipelines, working with cloud technologies, ETL workflows, and production systems. Unfortunately, my current company, has decided not to renew H1B applications, which has forced me to actively search for new opportunities,” the Redditor wrote.“What’s been mentally exhausting is the complete silence despite applying everywhere across the country. At this point, I genuinely don’t know whether it’s the market, my location, visa sponsorship concerns, or something else entirely,” the Redditor wrote seeking help from the community. The post went viral for several reasons at a time when the Donald Trump administration has been taking steps to stop H-1B fraud and OPT fraud. But most of the reactions were angry that told him to go back home. The overall impression was that three years of experience is not a good territory to be in and neither is data engineering. Many people commented that the situation is very clear: a temporary worker on a temporary visa is not needed anymore in the US and he should go home.A section of commentators expressed shock that H-1B visa holders who are believed to be highly skilled are not getting jobs in the country. “Not even a single call – That means you are skills are worthless and no one is interested in your experience. You want job in data engg good luck with that with 1000s of candidates jobless in market. Better to pack up and go back home before you run out of savings,” one wrote.
