Jayaram and Kalidas Jayaram’s family drama ‘Ashakal Aayiram’ continues its steady theatrical performance as it completes 17 days in cinemas. The film has managed to stay in the safe zone by drawing family audiences with its light humour and emotional storytelling. According to early estimates shared by Sacnilk website the film has collected Rs 7.09 crore worldwide. Out of this it earned Rs 7.02 crore as India net and Rs 7.09 crore as India gross.
Day-wise numbers show moderate strength
On day 17 the film collected Rs 30 lakhs and this follows day 16’s Rs 28 lakhs and day 15’s Rs 16 lakhs.On day 14 the film earned Rs 19 lakhs while day 13 brought in Rs 21 lakhs. On day 12 it collected Rs 27 lakhs and day 11 saw Rs 26 lakhs. The strongest jump in the second week came on day 10, when collections spiked to Rs 55 lakhs followed by day 9’s Rs 60 lakhs. The film began its theatrical run with a healthy Rs 60 lakhs on day 1 and climbed to Rs 85 lakhs on day 2 and peaked with Rs 1 crore on day 3 before settling into an even rhythm.Starring Jayaram, Kalidas Jayaram, Sharafudheen and Asha Sarath, the film relies heavily on its performances, especially Jayaram’s.Our ETimes review points out the balance of humour and familiarity in the film’s writing.
