After watching Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan and Amrita Rao’s beloved entertainer on television, Arjun tagged Farah and asked for a sequel “asap”. Farah’s playful response, which referenced a famous line associated with her films, has now left fans wondering if the filmmaker could return to the world of ‘Main Hoon Na’.

More than two decades after its theatrical release, ‘Main Hoon Na’ continues to enjoy a strong nostalgic following. Arjun Kapoor recently stumbled upon the film while checking into a hotel and shared a screenshot of the television broadcast on his Instagram Stories.The actor used the unexpected viewing to make a direct appeal to Farah Khan. Sharing his excitement over watching one of his favourite films, Arjun wrote, “The joy of watching your all time fav film randomly on tv as you check in into a hotel in this digital era… We need a sequel asap!!!”Kapoor also tagged Farah, effectively putting the sequel request before the filmmaker herself.

Farah Khan’s response adds fuel to ‘Main Hoon Na 2 ‘ speculation
Farah did not respond with a straightforward confirmation or denial. Instead, she reposted Arjun’s Story and replied with a cheeky message that appeared to deliberately reference the filmmaker’s own cinematic universe.“Hahaha… If you desire something with all your heart… Arjun Kapoor love u.”The line immediately reminded fans of the famous dialogue from ‘Om Shanti Om’, another Farah Khan directorial starring Shah Rukh Khan.The original dialogue goes: “Itni shiddat se maine tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai… ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki saazish ki hai. Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho toh puri kainaat usse tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai.”Farah’s response is not confirmation that ‘Main Hoon Na 2’ is being developed. However, her willingness to play along with Arjun’s request has once again brought the possibility of a sequel into the spotlight.

Released in 2004, ‘Main Hoon Na’ marked Farah Khan’s first outing as a director. The film brought together Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao and Suniel Shetty in a commercial entertainer combining action, romance, comedy and family drama. Shah Rukh played Major Ram, an army officer who assumes the identity of a college student while carrying out a covert mission. His assignment also leads him towards an emotional connection with his estranged half-brother, Lakshman, played by Zayed Khan.The film became one of the notable Hindi hits of its time and has retained a dedicated audience over the years.
Farah Khan has hinted at returning to direction
The ‘Main Hoon Na 2’ chatter comes at an interesting point in Farah Khan’s career. The filmmaker has previously spoken about returning to feature-film direction after taking time away from the medium. In one of her vlogs earlier this year, Farah revealed that she was considering making a film after her children leave for college.“I’ll make it in a bit! Once the kids leave for college, then I’ll make it. There is a whole petition on the internet called ‘Come back Farah Khan’. So I think it is time; I think at the end of this year I will start,” she said.Farah has also indicated that Shah Rukh Khan remains the actor she would ideally like to collaborate with if she returns to filmmaking.“If I do, I will do it with Shah Rukh! Otherwise, I will wait and do YouTube,” she had said.

Farah and Shah Rukh have worked together on three feature films so far. Their first collaboration was ‘Main Hoon Na’, followed by ‘Om Shanti Om’ in 2007 and ‘Happy New Year’ in 2014. Their association has produced some of the most recognisable commercial entertainers of the 2000s and 2010s, which is one reason a potential reunion continues to generate considerable interest.

Shah Rukh Khan is currently gearing up for ‘King’, which is scheduled for theatrical release on December 24, 2026. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand and also features Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan in key roles.
