Thai woman ties the knot with two Austrian lovers in rare double wedding; inside their unconventional love story

Imagine this situation: A simple Thai wedding ceremony where one bride says “I do” to two grooms. This is not some scandalous drama, but a heartfelt wedding ceremony that is blessed by their family and friends. That’s exactly what 37-year-old Duangduan Ketsaro did on February 28, 2026, in Thailand’s Prakhon Chai district, as per reports. Duangduan married her two Austrian partners—Roman, who is a retired police officer, and Macky, a current one. The trio were in an open relationship for years, and now she’s grabbed global headlines for marrying both her lovers. Read on to know more about this unusual marriage:

From solo struggles to shared bliss

Duangduan’s life wasn’t always this bold. She was a singer-songwriter from Pattaya earlier, and she hustled hard after her music dreams fizzled. Divorced with three daughters and two grandkids, she juggled jobs to support her ageing parents and young kids through tough times. Five years ago, she met Roman, sparking a deep romance—they even lived together. Then came Macky, Roman’s close buddy and fellow Austrian cop. What started as separate flings evolved into an open trio, built on raw honesty. No secrets, no jealousy—just talks about feelings and futures. “We chose this together,” she says. It’s the kind of vulnerability that turns potential mess into magic.

Family first: Getting the green light

Before rings, Duangduan had a chat—with her parents and grown daughters. Would they judge? Shockingly, no. Both Roman and Macky had already won them over, pitching in for family needs and showing steady care. Her mom, who’s watched her daughter grind for years, teared up: “I’ve seen her struggles. Her happiness is all I want now.” The kids agreed—these men weren’t fleeting; they were family too. In Thai culture, where loyalty runs deep, this buy-in made all the difference. It’s a reminder that true love stays and shows up for the whole package. Heart-melting approval like this? Rare and real.

A joyful ceremony full of tradition and laughs

The wedding was pure cosy charm in Prakhon Chai—no massive guest list, just nearest and dearest. They honoured Thai customs with a bai sri su kwan blessing (think sacred rice offerings for good vibes) and the wrist-tying ritual, which symbolises unbreakable ties. Each groom gifted a 1 million baht dowry (about Rs 29 lakhs) to Duangduan—a commitment in cash form. After their wedding, Roman and Macky celebrated with a hilarious pond plunge, tuxes soaked and grins wide, as per reports. Duangduan, radiant, quipped: “Marry one, nobody remembers… marry two, they’ll never forget!”

Legal fine print amid cultural cheers

Here’s the twist: While locals cheered and the community embraced it, Thai law doesn’t play nice with polygamy. Civil registration allows only one marriage officially, likely Roman’s, given their longer history. The other? Socially sacred, but not state-stamped. Still, in the case of Duangduan, Roman, and Macky, it’s about being honest with each other over paperwork. Globally, their wedding has led to debates on the rise of polyamory. Studies on consensual triads show higher satisfaction when jealousy is managed openly. Not for everyone, but for them? A perfect fit. What do you think about this wedding—is it a bold move or does it beautifully portray love? Share your thoughts below!
