Actress Aditi Bhatia confronted the criticism surrounding ‘The Kerala Story 2’ with poise, reaffirming her loyalty to portray her character with utmost honesty and respect. She believes that the film has the power to initiate meaningful dialogues beyond just entertainment, underscoring her commitment to delivering an authentic portrayal.

‘The Kerala Story 2’, which was shown in Indian theatres exactly a month ago, has amassed a lot of reviews. While the opinions on the film have been divided, the leads of the film have also been receiving a lot of criticism over their work on the big screen. While addressing the backlash, actress Aditi Bhatia opened up about her take on the film, why she chose to work in it, and how “it’s a conversation that extends beyond cinema.”

While talking to Variety India about her latest work in ‘The Kerala Story 2’, Bhatia got candid about all of the criticism and hate that she has gotten over playing the character, Divya. The actress, who was once a famed actress in the TV world, successfully transitioned into films; the journey was not easy. While doing ‘The Kerala Story 2’, she cited that “My responsibility was to stay honest to my character and her journey. If you start thinking too much about the noise around it, you risk losing the truth of what you’re portraying.”

She also addressed the intentions behind the film, citing that telling the real stories with full integrity mattered the most. “For me, the focus is always on intent and honesty. If you’ve approached your work with integrity and sensitivity, you have to stand by it. You can’t control how people will receive something, but you can control the truth you bring to it,” she quipped.Bhatia also acknowledged that she was already aware of what would follow after the film’s release. “I was aware that this isn’t just a film, it’s a conversation that extends beyond cinema,” she said.

The 26-year-old is a recognized face across the world of TV. She rose to fame for playing the role of Ruhi Bhalla in ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein.’ Other than that, she also worked in a lot of advertisements as a child star. Her debut in films came with a minor role in Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Vivaah’, which was followed by ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’, ‘The Train’, ‘Chance Pe Dance’, and ‘Sargoshiyan.’
