Backed by Excel Entertainment, Chalkboard Entertainment, and Suitable Pictures, ‘Boong’ created history as the first Indian film to win a BAFTA in this category. Surpassing strong international contenders such as ‘Zootropolis 2’, ‘Arco’, and ‘Lilo & Stitch’, the film’s victory marked a significant milestone for Indian regional cinema on the global stage.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the team of the film for their big win. Sharing his message, he said, “Congratulations to all those associated with this film. This is indeed a moment of immense joy, especially for Manipur. It also highlights the immense creative talent in our nation.” He said Boong’s success is a proud moment not just for the filmmakers but also for Manipur and Indian cinema.

Boong’s emotional story

Set in Manipur, ‘Boong’ is a heartwarming story about love, hope, and family. It follows a young boy named Boong, played by Gugun Kipgen, who wishes to bring his family back together. Living with his single mother, Mandakini, played by Bala Hijam Ningthoujam, Boong goes on a journey with his best friend to find his missing father. The film shows the innocence of childhood and the deep bond between a mother and her child.

Talking about Ayushmann, the actor is gearing up for his upcoming film ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’, which also stars Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Rakul Preet Singh. The movie was earlier scheduled for a Holi release, but reports now indicate a delay. As per Bollywood Hungama, the film will not arrive in theatres on March 4 as planned since post-production is still in progress and one song is yet to be filmed. The makers are reportedly taking their time to ensure the project is completed properly without rushing.
