Chandra Grahan 2026: Do's and don'ts to follow during lunar eclipse

Chandra Grahan is one of the natural phenomenon, which is going to take place on March 3, 2026. But this is not going to be a casual Lunar Eclipse; yes its not, now you you all must be thinking why is it not normal as compared to other Chandra Grahan so you must know that this Lunar Eclipse will occur on the festival of colors, Holi. This Lunar Eclipse will fall on Phalguna Purnima tithi in Leo zodiac sign under the Purva Phalguni Nakshtra. This year, Lunar Eclipse is going to occur on March 3, 2026. Do you know that Eclipse is not considered an auspicious event and this time it will be visible in India so it will bring various changes in your life because Moon is connected with your mind, thoughts, emotions and feelings. During this time period, people must follow some do’s and don’ts guidelines for the day and during the sutak time so that they can ptotect themselves from the bad effects of this Chandra Grahan. Add Tulsi Patra

You are advised to add tulsi patra and kusha grass in all the eatables.

Mantra Chanting

You should get engaged in some religious activities and mantra chanting is one of the powerful activities so you should chant mantras during that time.

Recite Holy Books

This will be the powerful time so you can just take a religious book with you and start reciting it and these religious books can be Bhagavad Gita, Ramacharitmanas and Sundarkand.

Take Bath

You should take bath before and after the eclipse ends.

Cover the idol

It is highly recommended that you must cover the images, pictures and idols by cloth.

Sprinkle Gangajal

You should sprinkle gangajal everywhere in your home for the cleansing once the eclipse ends.

Hanuman Chalisa Recitation

You can recite the Hanuman Chalisa during that time to get the protection from Lord Hanuman.

Charity ad Donation

You must do charity and donate food after the eclipse as it is considered highly meritorious.

Purify idols

Once the eclipse ends, you should sprinkle gangajal on the idols to purify them.

Lunar Eclipse 2026: What to avoid?

Maintain Celibacy

You are suggested to maintain the celibacy during the time of Lunar Eclipse. Avoid any intimacy during that time.

Do not eat

It is very important to know that you should avoid eating during the time of eclipse.

Avoid sleeping

You should avoid sleeping during the time of Eclipse as it is considered inauspicious.

Do not start auspicious activity

It is considered inauspicious if you start any business, job and other important events on this day.

Avoid sharpen objects

It is highly recommended that you should not use any sharpen objects such as knife, scissors and needle during that time.

Avoid touching idols

This is the inauspicious period so one must avoid touching the idols at the time of Lunar Eclipse.

Don’t touch tulsi

Tulsi is the living goddess on earth so people should not touch the tulsi plant durring the time of Chandra Grahan.
