Jiya Shankar has established a name for herself in the Indian entertainment sector due to her commitment and diverse acting talent.

Early Life and Education

Born on April 17, 1995, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Jiya had a keen interest in the performing arts since childhood. She was an active participant in school cultural activities, developing her skills and laying the groundwork for her professional career.

Career Beginnings

Jiya started auditioning for different roles at the age of 16, showing her dedication to acting professionally. She made her debut in films in 2013 with the Telugu film “Entha Andanga Unnave,” in which she portrayed the lead character of Jiya. This was her chance to prove herself and get early recognition in the film industry.

Transition to Television

Jiya’s television debut came in 2016 when she played Shreya Dixit Rathore in “&TV’s” show “Queens Hain Hum.” She received positive reviews for her performance, and subsequently, she landed more significant roles. Between 2017 and 2019, she played Dr. Ira Pandey in the comedy-drama “Meri Hanikarak Biwi,” showcasing her range as an actress. In 2020, she played Susheela Ruhail Solanki in “Kaatelal & Sons,” a role that was well-received by both audiences and critics.

Film Success and Recent Work

In 2022, Jiya broadened her scope by acting as Nisha Katkar in the Marathi film “Ved,” which featured Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh. Her riveting performance won her a nomination for Best Debut Actor – Female at the Filmfare Awards Marathi. She also acted as the lead, Pavitra, in the supernatural drama “Pishachini” on Colors TV, demonstrating her skill in handling various genres.

Reality TV and Personal Insights

In 2023, Jiya was a part of “Bigg Boss OTT 2,” in which she achieved the sixth position. On the show, she openly shared information regarding her personal life, sharing that her parents had gotten divorced when she was 13 years old. She had assumed the surname ‘Shankar’ of her own accord, which indicated her need for self-definition. Jiya also shared experiences of old relationships, talking about overcoming issues and self-growth.

Personal Interests and Hobbies

Apart from acting, Jiya is a bookworm and enjoys sketching and painting. These artistic engagements help her unwind and are part of what makes her a balanced person.
