Murali Kumar Gavit's story is one of hope, determination, and success. Born to a tribal family in Gujarat's Dang district, Gavit's family struggled to make ends meet, and they would receive food as payment for grazing cattle for the entire village. Gavit's desperation to help his family, coupled with his ambition to win the prize money for a marathon in Ahmedabad, sparked his love for running.

Gavit's first race was in 2013 at a village festival, where he ran barefoot and won a cash prize of INR 2,000. After years of running in small competitions, Gavit's talent was recognized when he won the Khel Mahakumbh - a state-wise talent hunting competition organized by the Gujarat government. Gavit then won the National Academy's selection trial and was awarded a training scholarship by the Gujarat government.

Gavit's hard work and dedication paid off when he won a bronze medal at the 2019 Asian Athletics Championships in the men's 10,000 meters event. With his family's finances on a stable footing, Gavit's career is looking up. In 2020, he recorded the second-fastest time ever by an Indian over the 10,000m and won his first national title at the Federation Cup in Patiala. Gavit's story is an inspiration for anyone who dreams of achieving success against all odds. His love for running not only transformed his life but also gave him a sense of purpose and an opportunity to help his family
