Ramadan is one of the most important months of the year for Muslims. The entire month of Ramadan is considered the most sacred month in the Islamic calendar. During this time, Muslims are completely focused on Allah; they give their heartfelt prayers to him, fast from sunrise to sunset without eating or drinking, participate in iftari and sehri, and engage in other spiritual and religious activities. Ramadan, or Ramazan, is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar.

When is Ramadan in India: February 18, at night

The crescent moon will be visible in several regions of India on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, between 6:15 and 6:45 PM IST. The sky will be enough dark to reveal the slender crescent moon when the sun has set.Local residents and Islamic communities will turn to the west when the sun sets. The first day of fasting in India is probably going to be Thursday, February 19, if people can view the moon on February 18. If you are unable to view the moon, Ramadan will begin on February 20 and Sha’ban will end in 30 days.

Ramadan 2026: Significance

Since this is the most pious month for them and praying to Allah during this time is thought to bring happiness and prosperity in life, people are often eager to seek Allah’s blessings during the month of Ramadan and show their gratitude by observing Roza throughout the day. It is also recommended to offer namaz five times a day during this time. Throughout the month, they make an effort to exercise self-control, refrain from all addictions, such as binge eating, drinking, and smoking, pray continuously, and follow all laws and guidelines.
