Seventy-five days after its December 5, 2025 release, Dhurandhar continues to dominate the conversation — and the box office. The Ranveer Singh-led action drama completed a historic theatrical run on February 17, underlining its rare staying power in a post-pandemic market known for sharp weekend spikes and swift drop-offs.Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film evolved from a much-anticipated release into a full-blown theatrical phenomenon. Strong word-of-mouth, repeat viewings, and steady weekday holds helped the film sustain momentum well beyond its opening weeks.

Numbers that rewrote the record books

Despite premiering on Netflix nearly two months after release, the film continued to draw audiences to cinemas. It closed its domestic run at Rs 894.49 crore net, registering 3.6 crore footfalls — making it the second most-watched Indian film in the post-pandemic era.In the process, Dhurandhar became:The first Bollywood film to enter the Rs 800 crore clubThe highest-grossing Hindi film of all timeThe third highest-grossing Indian film domestically, after Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Pushpa 2: The RuleGlobally, the film amassed Rs 1,354.84 crore, including Rs 299.35 crore overseas. It now stands as the second biggest Bollywood grosser worldwide after Dangal, while also emerging as the highest-grossing Bollywood film in North America with $20.65 million.

A profitability powerhouse

Made on a reported budget of Rs 225 crore, the film delivered profits of Rs 669.49 crore and an ROI of 297.55 percent, securing its place among the most profitable Hindi films in recent years. It also became the highest-grossing film for its principal cast — including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal — as well as director Aditya Dhar.Among its standout achievements:Fastest Bollywood film to cross Rs 500 crore (15 days)Fastest to reach Rs 1,000 crore worldwideOnly Bollywood film to earn Rs 10 crore+ for 28 consecutive daysHighest-grossing adult-rated film in Indian cinemaBiggest second weekend and second week in Hindi cinema history For Ranveer Singh, the film marked his biggest opening day (Rs 28.60 crore) and his career-defining commercial peak.The success has now paved the way for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, slated for release on March 19, 2026. The sequel is expected to clash at the box office with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, headlined by Yash.
