5 Foods considered pious in Hindu culture

Ever wondered why only a few fruits, grains and sweets are considered pious and can be used in Hindu rituals and offerings? Well, according to the Hindu traditions and vedic culture, there are several foods that are believed to be pious and these foods embody sattvic purity, divine grace, and this is why they are offered as naivedyam to the deities during festivals, rituals and in temples, which is later distributed as a prasadam to elevate the soul. Interestingly, most of these foods are associated with Hindu mythology and their reference can be found in ancient texts.
