8 mango drink recipes to stay cool and hydrated this summer

The summer season in India cannot exist without the mango, and this is clearly evident in Indian markets, which feature many varieties, such as Alphonso and Badami. Gradually, one starts making food items using the fruit and drinking beverages that used to be occasional are incorporated into daily diets. Some beverages are very filling and serve as substitutes for food; others are meant to refresh one’s body in extremely hot weather. All the above-mentioned drinks seem to have appeared from a need to satisfy the requirements of the local weather conditions. It has been proven by experts that mango drinks keep one hydrated and provide additional energy.

Mango drinks to stay cool this summer

Mango Lassi

Mango Lassi

This is one of the yoghurt drinks that is well known for its creamy consistency and sweetness. This drink is usually popular in North India, especially when it comes to taking it along with spicy food. In addition to being sour from yoghurt, this beverage is sweetened with mango pulp.Recipe:

  • Blend 1 cup ripe mango pulp with 1 cup thick yoghurt
  • Add 2–3 teaspoons sugar
  • Add a pinch of cardamom powder
  • Blend until smooth and serve chilled
  • Garnish with saffron strands if available.

Aam Panna

Aam Panna

Aam Panna is prepared from unripe mangoes and is characterized by its high heat resistance capacity. The drink is quite sour and somewhat salty, thereby distinguishing it from other types of sweet mango drinks. The drink is normally taken when the weather is very hot, as it helps regulate electrolytes.Recipe:

  • Boil 2 raw mangoes until soft, peel and extract the pulp
  • Blend with roasted cumin powder, black salt, mint leaves, and sugar.
  • Add cold water to adjust consistency and serve chilled.

Mango Mastani

Mango Mastani

Mango Mastani is a thick drink that has been made in Pune, and it can be termed as a dessert food. The drink is a combination of mango shake and ice cream, with nuts on top of the shake.Recipe:

  • Blend 1 cup of mango pulp with 1 cup chilled milk and sugar
  • Pour into a tall glass, add a scoop of mango ice cream on top
  • Garnish with chopped nuts and cherries.

Mango Milkshake

Mango Milkshake

Mango Milkshake is one of the simplest and most widely consumed mango drinks. It relies on the natural sweetness of mangoes and does not require many additional ingredients.Recipe:

  • Blend 1 cup chopped mango with 1 cup chilled milk and sugar as needed
  • Blend until smooth
  • Serve cold, optionally adding small mango chunks on top.

Mango Agua Fresca

Mango Agua Fresca

Mango Agua Fresca is one of those drinks that feels very light, almost effortless. It’s popular in Mexico and is usually made for hydration rather than indulgence. There’s no heaviness here. Just mango, water, and a bit of citrus. It seems ideal for really hot days when thick shakes feel like too much.Recipe:

  • Take 1 cup of ripe mango and blend it with around 2 cups of cold water
  • Add 1–2 teaspoons of lime juice
  • Taste it first, then add sugar only if needed
  • Some people prefer straining it for a smoother texture, but that part is optional
  • Serve it well chilled.

Mangonada

Mangonada

Mangonada feels very different from typical mango drinks. It’s bold. Sweet at first, then suddenly tangy and slightly spicy. That contrast is what makes it stand out. You might not expect mango to work with chilli and chamoy, but it somehow does.Recipe:

  • Use frozen mango chunks and blend them into a thick purée
  • Add a spoonful of chamoy sauce and a pinch of chilli-lime seasoning.
  • Pour it into a glass, then add another light layer of chamoy on top
  • If available, a tamarind straw is often used, but it’s not essential.

Mango Iced Tea

Mango Iced Tea

Mango Iced Tea sits somewhere between fruit drink and regular iced tea. It’s not too sweet. Not too strong either. The tea adds a slight bitterness, which balances the mango quite well. It feels lighter than milk-based drinks, so people often prefer it during the day.Recipe:

  • Brew 1 cup of tea and let it cool completely
  • Once cooled, mix in about ½ cup mango pulp and 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Stir it properly
  • Add ice and serve cold
  • You can adjust sweetness depending on taste.

Mango Mojito

Mango Mojito

Mango Mojito is usually served as a mocktail and feels a bit more refreshing than most mango drinks. It’s fizzy, slightly tangy, and has that fresh mint flavour coming through. Often seen at gatherings, especially in the evening when people want something light but still flavourful.Recipe:

  • Take a glass and gently muddle a few mint leaves with lime wedges.
  • Add around ½ cup mango purée and mix it lightly
  • Pour chilled soda on top and add ice
  • Stir once, not too much, and serve immediately.
