Rashmika Mandanna resumes 'Mysaa' shoot, Parthiban apologises after caste remark, 'Jana Nayagan' review cancellation: Top 5 South stories of the day
Rashmika Mandanna returns to the sets of ‘Mysaa’ after her wedding, while actor R. Parthiban has apologized for a caste remark made during a promotional event. Delays plague Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ due to re-censorship issues, and Ram Charan’s ‘Peddi’ is nearing completion. Meanwhile, Khushbu Sundar defends Trisha Krishnan against personal life rumors.

South cinema buzzed with major updates today, from big film developments to celebrity reactions and viral moments. A swift return to the spotlight, a public mea culpa, and actors’ firm statements kept the online chatter alive. News of upcoming films and casting decisions further fuelled the conversation. Here’s a quick look at the top five stories of the day:

Rashmika returns to ‘Mysaa‘ sets

After marrying Vijay Deverakonda, Rashmika Mandanna has resumed work. She reshared a picture with the caption, “The Hunt Begins.” The image hints at a high-octane action film in which Rashmika will essay the role of a fierce Gond woman. Her quick return to the sets has left fans excited, who are now eagerly awaiting the film.

Parthiban apologises after caste remark sparks backlash

R. Parthiban issued an audio apology following backlash over his caste remark at an event. The controversy began when he introduced himself as a “Naidu boy” during Ustaad Bhagat Singh promotions. Clarifying his statement, he said his birth identity was not his choice and attributed the remark to stage tension caused by language barriers. He apologised sincerely, urging people not to misinterpret his intent.

‘Jana Nayagan‘ re-censorship delays push Vijay’s film release

‘Jana Nayagan’ continues to face delays as its re-censorship process hits another hurdle. The scheduled review was cancelled after being initially postponed from March 9 due to a committee member falling ill. The rescheduled March 17 screening also did not take place, leaving fans disappointed. The repeated cancellations have further increased uncertainty around the film’s release.

Ram Charan’s ‘Peddi’ nears wrap

Ram Charan’s ‘Peddi’ is nearing completion, with just 10 days of shooting left. Only a special song and a few minor scenes remain to be filmed. If everything goes as planned, the team is expected to wrap up production soon. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film is slated for release on April 30, 2026.

Khushbu backs Trisha amid rumours

Khushbu Sundar has come out in support of Trisha Krishnan amid ongoing rumours about her personal life. Calling Trisha a “dignified and gentle soul,” Khushbu dismissed the speculation and criticised social media users for spreading negativity and intruding into celebrities’ lives. The rumours surfaced after Trisha was spotted with Vijay at a recent wedding event in Chennai.
