The makers of Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ have released the film’s new song, ‘Maskara’, after the teaser and the earlier track ‘Kya Kamaal Hai’. The romantic number features Sharvari and Vedang Raina, with music by AR Rahman and lyrics by Irshad Kamil. Nilanjana Ghosh Dastidar and Vedang have sung the track. While some Reddit users praised Vedang’s voice and the song’s easy charm, others debated Sharvari and Vedang’s pairing, styling, and screen chemistry.
‘Maskara’ song from ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ released
Imtiaz Ali shared ‘Maskara’ on Instagram and wrote, “See…?Girls have thrown attitude at us down the ages!! (sic).” The song places Sharvari and Vedang’s romance at the center, while Rahman and Kamil bring their sound back to Ali’s world of love and longing.
Vedang said the song helped him enter his character Keenu in a new way.
“Maskara is incredibly close to my heart because it let me step into the character in a whole new way, not just as an actor, but through music. There’s a raw innocence in what Keenu feels, and singing it made those emotions even more intimate and real for me. Recording with A. R. Rahman sir was surreal; his process pushes you to explore depths you didn’t know existed. And to be part of Imtiaz Ali sir’s world, where every emotion feels so lived-in, made this journey truly unforgettable.”
