A woman student is under the scanner of the Delhi Police for allegedly creating fake SSC exam marks to get a job in the government sector. The incident has raised serious doubts over cheating in exams and document forgery, and hence, the authorities are taking tough steps against such malpractices.

Forgery Case Revealed
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) raised alarms among police officials about differences in the candidate’s scorecard and merit list entries. After cross-checking, authorities discovered that the marks were manipulated to show a higher score than what was initially achieved.

As soon as the irregularity came to light, SSC alerted law enforcement, prompting an official investigation into the case.

Delhi Police Steps In
The case has been handed over to the cybercrime division of the Delhi Police, who are now investigating:

The original scorecard produced by the student

Any alterations to official records

Any third-party involvement in assisting the forgery

Forgery of government exam documents being a serious crime, said officials, which falls under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), such as cheating, fraud, and document forgery.
Instances of malpractice in exams and document forgery have been on the rise, with authorities stepping up security checks. SSC and other government recruitment bodies have been adopting:

Tighter document verification

Use of digital forensics to identify tampering

Severe penalties for candidates found engaging in fraud

Possible Legal Penalties
In case of being guilty, the student may be subject to:

Legal prosecution under IPC sections dealing with fraud and forgery

Permanently banned from government job exams
Permanent disqualification from government job exams

A criminal record that would affect future professional prospects

The authorities have reaffirmed their zero-tolerance toward such malpractices and have appealed to candidates to stay away from such foul play in government exams.

Last Word
This incident is a reminder of the dangers involved in document forgery in competitive exams. With enhanced digital security and verification processes, candidates seeking to indulge in such scams are bound to be caught and severely penalized.

The Delhi Police is still looking into the issue, and accordingly, further proceedings will be done.
