If you feel you are the only one who finds it hard to keep up with Gen Z slang, think again. Even Hollywood’s ‘Han Solo’, aka Harrison Ford, can’t decode the Gen Z lingo. Recently, during a media appearance with his ‘Shinking’ co-stars, Harrison Ford was seen baffled by one particular term, which filled the room with chaos and laughter. Harrison Fords and the curious case of Gen Z slang
It all began with a simple explanation about unplugging on flights. Sherry Cola, Ford’s co-star in the third season of ‘Shrinking,’ was explaining how she likes to disconnect from everything while travelling. She used the term “raw-dogging” and started a chain reaction.“I will raw-dog a flight,” Sherry Cola said on Sirius XM’s ‘The Morning Mashup,’ before adding, “I will just… here’s the thing. We’re doing the most all the time, right?” She tried to further explain, “So, sometimes silence and solitude are necessary, and just like sitting on a plane watching nothing, doing nothing, just staring blankly at … it’s called raw-dogging a flight.”This left Harrison perplexed, and he chimed in, “That’s not what ‘raw-dog’ means.” On this, the host jokingly questioned, “Do you want to explain to us what it actually means?” And it only turned messier and more hilarious from there. “They told me a little late. I really didn’t, well, why would I run across something that …,” said Ford.He then blurred the line between reel and his real life, stating, “I’m over this part of anybody’s life; I have five children. People – I never – what does this mean? Why do you let me do this? And then you make fun of me. It’s because I’m old.”It was like he was giving a nod to a scene in season one of ‘Shrinking’ where Ford’s character misuses the term “raw-dog.” He believes that “raw-dogging” means “to talk to somebody that doesn’t want to talk to you.”
