Quote of the day by Al Pacino: ‘The hardest thing about being famous is that people are always nice to you’

Fame can change people a lot, but it can also affect the people around you and how they behave with you. Al Pacino, who has worked in the industry for 6 decades, spoke from experience about how people often change how they act around you if you become ‘famous’ in any sense.

Quote of the day by Al Pacino

The quote for the day by veteran star Al Pacino reads, “The hardest thing about being famous is that people are always nice to you.” Further on, he adds in the quote, “You’re in a conversation and everybody’s agreeing with what you’re saying – even if you say something totally crazy. You need people who can tell you what you don’t want to hear.”

What does the quote mean?

The actor presents a dilemma with his quote. Becoming famous and known in the world is a dream that almost everyone has at some point in their life. However, the truth is far from good and dreamy. While becoming known can get you a lot of things, it can also mean that people who always say yes to you will be present in your life.He calls it one of the “hardest” parts of becoming a celebrity, citing that you often end up surrounded by people who always wish to be in your good graces no matter what. He presents that such people will not get you anywhere in life; they will only encourage you, no matter what you may be doing, good or bad.The next part of the quote presents the scenario that these people can go to great lengths to agree with you, even if you present them with something impossible or ‘crazy,’ as per the actor’s words. He then emphasizes that no matter at what point of life you are in, you need to surround yourself with people who will not be afraid to tell you the truth. He says that the very few people who will look past your title and the praise, and will directly see you as a person, are some of the most important people you need to keep in your life and around you. Such people will not sugarcoat things; they will not mask their true opinions under agreement and will be there by your side, calling out your wrongs while celebrating your rights.“You need people who can tell you what you don’t want to hear,” he concludes, presenting the harsh truth that as a famous person, you will have people hovering over you who are afraid to tell you the truth because of your title and the power you hold, and you need to prioritize the people who are not afraid of being truthful. It is up to you as a person to identify such people in your life and understand who is good and bad. This quote comes from years of wisdom from the famed actor, who first rose to worldwide fame for his work in ‘The Godfather’ franchise. He is widely regarded and known as one of the greatest and most influential actors of all time.

Al Pacino, from a busboy to the greatest actor of all time

The actor was born on April 25, 1940, in New York City under the name Alfredo James Pacino. The actor started his career in 1967 by working in underground and off-Broadway theatre plays. From a young age, his high school teachers encouraged his inclination for acting, and he was often cast in school plays in all kinds of roles. After he joined the High School of Performing Arts, he started taking acting more seriously. However, when his mother did not agree to his career choices, he left home to pursue a career as an actor. At the start of his career, he did not have much money and would take up odd jobs to sustain himself. In the beginning, Pacino worked as a messenger, busboy, janitor, switchboard operator, usher, and postal clerk. Along with this, he also started attending classes at the HB Studio. There, he would attend acting classes for free in exchange for cleaning the hallways and other areas of the studio. He officially started appearing in theatre plays and meager roles from 1967, and would work odd jobs for himself. Two years later, he made his official Broadway debut in ‘Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie?’ He got a lot of critical acclaim and was even given a Tony Award for his performance on stage.Later on, his feature film debut came with ‘The Panic in Needle Park,’ where he played the role of a heroin addict in the film, and the rest is history. Francis Ford Coppola took a chance on him, and a year later, he was cast in ‘The Godfather,’ which is now known as the film that defined his career and helped him rise to the very top. One of the biggest achievements of his time was that for the role in ‘The Godfather,’ he managed to beat out some big names in the industry, including Jack Nicholson, Robert Redford, Warren Beatty, and Robert De Niro, all of whom had auditioned for the same role.

Al Pacino’s latest work
