Kangana Ranaut hit back at critics reviving her old party videos, defending her right to change beliefs. She said she wants to “convert” into a Sanghi and embrace BJP-RSS ideology as an “awakened Hindu,” refusing to defend her past. She argued Hindu women deserve the same freedom to change without judgment.

Actor-turned-BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has apparently hit back at those digging up her old videos of partying and film promotions, saying she has every right to change her beliefs. In a social media video, she stood by her decision to become what she termed an “awakened” and “disciplined” Hindu, noting that just as people are free to choose any religion or ideology, the Constitution grants her the same right to choose her own path.

The actor further said she wishes to “convert” into a Sanghi, questioning why society should object to this choice when it accepts similar shifts in others without issue. She added that she wouldn’t defend her past against criticism, insisting she too has the right to change. She stated, “Jab Hindu betiyon ki baat aati hai… aaj main apne aapko defend nahi karoongi. Main nahi kahoongi ki ji maine item numbers ke khilaaf ya pay parity ke khilaaf ya kabhi badi badi filmon mein kaam nahi kiya, heroes ke khilaaf maine bahishkar kiya, Maine nepotism ke khilaaf ladai li, aap mujhe aisa kaise keh sakte hain? Haan, main ek moderate Hindu thi.“(When it comes to Hindu daughters… today I will not defend myself. I will not say that I fought against item numbers or against pay parity or never worked in big films, I boycotted heroes, I fought against nepotism, how can you say this to me? Yes, I was a moderate Hindu)She added that she now wants to adopt what she referred to as the BJP and RSS‘s ideology. In her words, “Aaj isi waqt mujhe jo hai, jo mujhe tanz kiya jaata hai, tum kab se Sanghi ban gayi? Mujhe Sanghi banna hai. Mujhe jo hai BJP, RSS ki ideology, jise ek awakened Hindu, mujhe banna hai, mujhe convert hona hai. Main kyon nahi convert ho sakti?”.(Today at this very moment, whatever I have, for which I am taunted, since when did you become a Sanghi? I want to become a Sanghi. Whatever I have, whatever is the ideology of BJP, RSS, I want to become an awakened Hindu, I have to convert. Why can’t I convert?)

Kangana Ranaut says Hindu women deserve freedom to change

Kangana concluded her video by saying that Hindu women, too, should have the freedom to change their beliefs without being judged over their past. She said, “To yeh jo doglapan hai samaj ka, jab Hindu betiyon ki baat aati hai, to jo samaj ke thekedaar hain, wo ek agni pariksha ke liye hamare das saal purane, tum to party karti thi, tum to ye karti thi. Theek hai, main sab kuch karti thi, lekin aaj mujhe bhi convert hona hai. Aur mujhe jo hai ek defined aur ek awakened Hindu banna hai. To mere liye wo raasta kyon band hai? Yeh ek dogli soch aur dogle vichar nahi chalenge. Aur baaki aap log mujhe bataiyega, meri aur kaise vichar fine ho sakte hain, aur I just feel that hamari betiyon ko bhi wo azaadi honi chahiye. Agar unko convert hona hai, defined aur disciplined Hindu mein, why not?”.(So this hypocrisy of society, when it comes to Hindu daughters, those who are part of society, they put our ten years ago to a test of fire. You used to party, you used to do this. Okay, I used to do everything, but today I too have to convert. And I have to become a defined and awakened Hindu. So why is that path closed for me? This hypocrisy and double thinking will not work. And for the rest, you guys tell me what other thoughts of mine can be right, and I just feel that our daughters should also have that freedom.” If they have to convert into defined and disciplined Hindus, why not?)
