After grabbing attention with his special appearance in ‘The Ba***ds Of Bollywood’, Emraan Hashmi is gearing up for another big-screen entertainer with ‘Gunmaaster G9’. The action-packed film also stars Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana in key roles and marks Emraan’s reunion with filmmaker Aditya Datt nearly two decades after their earlier collaboration. Producer Deepak Mukut recently shared updates about the film’s release plans while also reflecting on the performance of his previous production, ‘The Bhootnii’.
‘Gunmaaster G9’ likely to release during Dussehra 2026
According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers are currently considering a Dussehra 2026 release window for ‘Gunmaaster G9’. The producer revealed that October 16 is being looked at as the primary release date, while October 9 is also under consideration. Speaking about the strategy behind the timing, Mukut explained that the team is trying to choose a period that offers the film a better opportunity to connect with audiences without too much competition from other major releases.
Mukut also mentioned that ‘Gunmaaster G9’ is designed as a massy action entertainer targeted at viewers who enjoyed Emraan Hashmi’s popular on-screen image from the mid-2000s. At the same time, he believes the film’s music, action and overall treatment will also appeal to younger audiences.During the interaction with the publication, Deepak Mukut also opened up about the difficulties faced by his previous film ‘The Bhootnii’. While discussing the film’s performance, he admitted that the project suffered because of screen-sharing problems during its release period.Despite the challenges, the producer stated that audiences responded positively to the film wherever it managed to secure shows. He believes the film could have performed better commercially had it received wider showcasing. Deepak candidly shared that the experience made him more cautious while planning the release strategy for upcoming projects, including ‘Gunmaaster G9’.
‘Gunmaaster G9’ shoot schedule currently underway
The producer further revealed that work on ‘Gunmaaster G9’ is progressing steadily. The team is reportedly preparing to film an elaborate car chase sequence in Mumbai before moving to Uttarakhand and Delhi for the next schedule in June. Deepak also praised Genelia Deshmukh’s performance in the film, appreciating the effort she put into her role. He shared that actor Riteish Deshmukh was highly impressed after learning about the character and complimented the team for giving Genelia a strong part.
