While the actress, known for films like ‘Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva’ and shows like ‘Naagin’, was reportedly certain about settling down, Suraj confessed that marriage was never really part of his plan initially.Speaking to Bombay Times, Suraj had shared, “For a long time, I was against the idea of getting married. However, having experienced it for a year, I must say it is quite peaceful, and I would recommend it.” He further revealed that Mouni had been clear about her intentions from the beginning of their relationship.
When Mouni Roy drew a clear line
According to Suraj, after dating for a few years, Mouni decided she no longer wanted uncertainty in their relationship. Recalling that phase, he said, “Mouni was quite clear that she wanted to get married very early on. After a couple of years of dating, she clearly said it was either this way (getting married) or the highway.”He admitted that he continued postponing the decision for a while before finally realising what he truly wanted. “I just kept buying time. Then one day, she gave me an ultimatum, and I realised that if I didn’t marry her, I would lose her. That’s when I realised we should get married as I knew that my life would be better with her,” Suraj added.

Mouni, who has also appeared in projects like ‘Gold’ and ‘Made In China’, had earlier spoken about how their demanding professional schedules actually strengthened their bond. The actress explained that both of them consciously made time for each other despite hectic routines.“What works for us is the fact that we both are very occupied in our professional lives,” Mouni had shared. She added, “So, the moments we get to spend with each other, we make the most of them. There’s a conscious effort to utilise this time positively.”The actress also admitted that their relationship was not without disagreements, but they evolved with time. “We have grown a lot in this relationship. It has been quite a journey. We have had our fair share of arguments. But today, we are at a stage where we can be with each other without complaining, and just be ourselves and be happy,” she said.

Suraj also spoke about his hesitation regarding shifting base to Mumbai after marriage. He admitted that relocating felt overwhelming initially, but credited Mouni for helping him settle comfortably into the city and her social circle.“I also had a lot of apprehension about partially moving to Mumbai. I thought it would be tough, but I saw Mouni putting in a lot of effort to make me feel comfortable here. Now, her friends are my friends and vice versa,” he had shared. He further hinted that the couple was even planning to collaborate professionally in the future and enjoyed spending time together.
