‘Aakhri Sawal’ Twitter review: Sanjay Dutt and Namashi Chakraborty power this intense ideological drama

Director Abhijeet Mohan Warang brings political conversations and ideological clashes to the forefront with ‘Aakhri Sawal’, a drama that attempts to explore modern India’s divided discourse through emotional storytelling and sharp confrontations. Featuring Sanjay Dutt and Namashi Chakraborty in pivotal roles, the film revolves around the conflict between constructive dialogue and aggressive debate. At the centre of the story is Professor Gopal Nadkarni, played by Sanjay Dutt, who explains to his former student Vicky Hegde that Indian civilisation has always believed in “Samvaad” rather than “Vivaad.” This philosophical difference becomes the emotional and ideological backbone of the narrative.

Sanjay Dutt and Namashi Chakraborty deliver strong performances

One of the biggest highlights of ‘Aakhri Sawal’ is the intense exchange between Sanjay Dutt and Namashi Chakraborty. Their scenes together carry emotional weight and ideological tension, keeping the audience invested throughout the film. Sanjay Dutt delivers a commanding performance with restraint and conviction, while Namashi Chakraborty manages to hold his own during the emotionally charged confrontations. Their mentor-versus-student dynamic gives the film much of its dramatic impact. The movie ambitiously combines campus politics, media narratives and the legacy of RSS into a single storyline. It also attempts to shed light on what it describes as the organisation’s lesser-known contributions. While the film deserves appreciation for tackling politically sensitive themes without hesitation, some moments become excessively dramatic. Certain character portrayals feel exaggerated, making the storytelling lean towards a conventional good-versus-bad narrative instead of maintaining complete nuance. One of the users wrote, “Aakhri Sawal emerges as a HARD-HITTING political drama that explores ideological conflict, historical perception and the battle between ‘Samvaad’ and ‘Vivaad’ through an emotionally charged mentor-versus-student equation.”Another user rated the movie 4 stars and wrote, ‘Hard-Hitting Cinema With Real Conviction’. Another user added, ‘BOLD THEMES, POWERFUL FACE-OFFS & STRONG PERFORMANCES…;.

‘Aakhri Sawal’ appears to be a hard-hitting cinema with emotional depth

Despite its flaws, ‘Aakhri Sawal’ succeeds in leaving an impression because of the questions it raises. The film encourages viewers to reflect on ideological differences, public perception and the importance of meaningful discussion in today’s polarised climate. The film may not be perfect in execution, but it remains engaging because of its conviction and fearless storytelling. Its biggest strength lies in the conversations it starts after the credits roll. For viewers interested in political dramas driven by performances and ideological debates, ‘Aakhri Sawal’ turns out to be a compelling watch that stays with you long after it ends.
