In a strong reaction to the ghastly terrorist strike in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 individuals lost their lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a strong warning to the perpetrators. While addressing the National Panchayati Raj Day function in Madhubani, Bihar, on April 24, 2025, PM Modi stated, “We will find out, chase, and punish every terrorist and their supporters. We will follow them to the ends of the world.”

The Prime Minister’s declaration was an open signal that India will not compromise on acts of terrorism and will leave no stone untouched in seeking justice. The attack in the hilly resort town of Pahalgam involved militants of a local terror outfit who attacked a group of Indian tourists, killing 25 nationals and one Nepalese national. The terrorists are said to have asked the victims to recite Islamic verses before they opened fire, further attesting to the religiously motivated nature of the attack.

India has moved very quickly in response to the incident, taking a series of retaliatory steps that are intended to address the situation. These steps include suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, shutting down the Attari border checkpost, and ejecting Pakistani military personnel from India. The Indian government, in addition, has reduced the strength of Pakistani diplomats in New Delhi and suspended visa services to Pakistani nationals. All these reflect the seriousness of the situation and the determination of India in countering cross-border terrorism.

PM Modi’s words resonated across the country, signaling that the government stands firm in its commitment to protect the lives of its citizens and seek justice for those affected by this horrific attack. He reassured the nation that the spirit of 140 crore Indians would not be crushed by such acts of violence. The Prime Minister’s address also reflected the growing frustration with cross-border terrorism, which continues to be a significant challenge for India.

As the probe into the attack is ongoing and security forces intensify their operations, India stands together in its resolve to tackle terrorism squarely. The government’s reaction is to make it clear that such acts of violence will not be tolerated and those who indulge in them will be brought to book, wherever they may be. The international community has also shown its solidarity with India, strengthening the nation’s resolve in the face of such a challenge.

This announcement by PM Modi is a part of India’s larger initiative against terrorism, seeking justice for Indian citizens, and protecting national security. The moves by the government, both strategic and diplomatic, suggest that India is willing to do whatever it takes to prevent such attacks from happening in the future and to punish the attackers.

The country stands as one, with political leaders from all sides rallying behind the government’s action. As India continues on its path to eliminate terrorism, it is committed to protecting its sovereignty and keeping its citizens safe and secure. The recent moves and the Prime Minister’s tough rhetoric are indicative of India’s resolute position to protect its people and take stern action against individuals who attempt to harm them.

The Kashmir situation is still strained, and while the operations are ongoing for the security forces, the center of attention will remain the prosecution of those who carried out the attack. With the government’s clear intent and prompt actions, India is giving a strong message to terrorists and their backers that the nation will not yield to such threats.
