How PGA Champion 2026 Aaron Rai met his wife Gaurika Bishnoi
Professional golfer Aaron Rai’s career-defining moment wasn’t a win, but meeting Gaurika Bishnoi at the 2018 Hero Indian Open. Their shared passion for golf and mutual understanding have forged a strong partnership, with Rai crediting Bishnoi for his personal and professional growth. The couple now practices together, highlighting their supportive and competitive dynamic.

For most professional athletes, career-defining moments usually involve trophies, rankings, or championship wins. But for Aaron Rai, the most important thing to come out of a golf tournament had nothing to do with golf at all. It was meeting the woman who would eventually become his wife. And honestly, their story feels straight out of a rom-com – just with golf clubs instead of coffee shops.Back in 2018, Aaron Rai was in India to compete at the Hero Indian Open, a major event on the DP World Tour calendar. At the same tournament was Gaurika Bishnoi, a successful golfer herself and former No. 1 player on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour. The funny part? They didn’t even meet directly at first.Gaurika’s brother happened to be volunteering with Rai’s group during the tournament, and since the event was being held at her home club, she was casually following along. Not in a fangirl way, as she later clarified – just supporting her brother and spending time around the tournament.

That’s when fate quietly stepped in.During the round, Gaurika struck up a conversation with Aaron’s mother, Dalvir Shukla. The two instantly connected, and by the end of the day, Aaron’s mother apparently insisted that Gaurika wait because she wanted her to meet her son.And well… the rest kind of wrote itself.Fast-forward a few years, and the couple officially tied the knot in London in July 2025. But what makes their relationship stand out isn’t just the sweet “how we met” story. It’s the fact that they genuinely seem to function like a team – both in life and in sport.

Aaron has openly spoken about how important Gaurika has been in his journey, especially professionally. And not in the generic “she’s supportive” celebrity-interview way either. He genuinely credits her for helping him become a better player and person.According to him, having a partner who understands the mental side of professional sport makes a huge difference. Since Gaurika is also a golfer, she understands the pressure, the discipline, the frustration, and the mindset required to survive at that level.Aaron has said multiple times that her feedback, whether it’s about technique, mindset, or even how he carries himself during tournaments, has been incredibly valuable. In fact, he admitted he probably wouldn’t be where he is today without her support. And honestly, there’s something refreshing about that level of honesty.A lot of successful athletes talk about hard work and discipline, but not enough people talk about the role a healthy relationship can play in someone’s success. Having someone who understands your world without needing constant explanations can make a massive difference emotionally and mentally. The couple now spends a lot of time practising together at their home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, where Aaron regularly trains at TPC Sawgrass. But according to him, these practice sessions don’t exactly go easy on his ego.In fact, Aaron openly joked that Gaurika often beats him during putting contests, chipping games, and practice sessions on TrackMan. He admitted that he’s usually the one trying to keep up with her.Even when they play full rounds together, he says the competition is surprisingly close – though he gives himself a tiny advantage because he’s spent slightly more time playing at Sawgrass. Slightly.

Honestly, their relationship feels less like a typical celebrity sports romance and more like two people who genuinely enjoy growing together in the same world. There’s friendship, mutual respect, competitiveness, and support – which is probably why their story resonates with so many people. And maybe that’s what makes it special.Because while Aaron Rai may go on to win more tournaments and titles in the future, it seems pretty clear that the best thing he ever took home from the Hero Indian Open wasn’t a trophy – it was meeting the person he’d eventually build a life with.
