‘Bandar’ gets A certificate from CBFC: CUSS words from Bobby Deol's film replaced with 'banjo' and other mild terms
Anurag Kashyap’s dark drama Bandar, starring Bobby Deol, releases on June 5. The CBFC granted it an A certificate with no visual cuts but replaced several cuss words, including swapping “b**** c***” with “banjo.” The film runs for 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 27 seconds.

Anurag Kashyap is back with another dark and gripping drama, ‘Bandar’, starring Bobby Deol, which arrives in theatres on June 5. The film has already piqued audience curiosity with its intense premise, the much-anticipated first-time pairing of Bobby and Kashyap, and the bold use of the song Come On Baby. Now, with the release just around the corner, details of how the film fared during the censor process have come to light.

Bobby Deol’s ‘Bandar’ clears CBFC with A certificate, no visual cuts demanded

As per a Bollywood Hungama report, the Central Board of Film Certification has granted ‘Bandar’ an ‘A’ certificate. Notably, despite the film’s dark and intense theme, the CBFC’s Examining Committee has reportedly cleared it without demanding any visual cuts.

Bobby Deol’s ‘Bandar’ undergoes multiple dialogue changes, cuss words replaced with ‘banjo’

Although no visuals were cut, ‘Bandar’ reportedly underwent several dialogue changes, largely targeting abusive language used throughout the film. The word “b**** c***” was replaced with “banjo,” while several other strong cuss words were swapped with milder alternatives such as “saale,” “ce,” “haramkhor,” “gu,” “pagal,” “fr,” “bloody,” “hooking up,” “moron,” “gd,” “ca,” “wise guy,” “fg,” “jt ke baal,” “saamaan,” “ling,” “b*e,” “willy,” “weenie” and “clown.” Some words were also replaced with “aicha gavat,” “goddamit,” “baby,” “nasha,” “ladki,” “kamine” and “hum sab.” The word “b*****d” was ordered to be deleted, one abusive word in the third act was muted, and three more were silenced. The dialogue “kitna bhi sindoor” was also flagged for modification.

Bobby Deol’s ‘Bandar’ receives censor certificate on May 30, runtime revealed

According to the report, the makers of ‘Bandar’ submitted documents to prove that the film is based on a true story. They also gave a consent letter from celebrities to use their names in the film. Once all the changes were made, ‘Bandar’ got its censor certificate on May 30. The certificate shows the film’s runtime as 130.27 minutes, meaning Bandar is 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 27 seconds long.

Bobby Deol teams up with Anurag Kashyap for the first time in ‘Bandar’

‘Bandar’ is directed by Anurag Kashyap and stars Bobby Deol in the main role. The film also has Sapna Pabbi, Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Jitendra Joshi playing important parts. It is Deol’s first film with Anurag, and is likely to show the actor in a tough and intense role.
