Born on September 3, 1954, Govind Namdev is a 71-year-old actor who primarily worked in Hindi movies. He is an alumnus of the National School of Drama (NSD) 1978. He worked in the NSD repertory company for over 10 years before joining movies. He marked his acting debut as a corrupt police officer in David Dhawan’s ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’ in 1992.The actor has worked on hundreds of movies in his career spanning over three decades. His notable work includes ‘Oh My God’, ‘Dum Maro Dum’, ‘Bandit Queen’, ‘Virasat’, ‘Satya’, ‘Kachche Dhaage’, ‘Mast’, ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’, ‘Pukar’, ‘Raju Chacha’, ‘Sarfarosh’, ‘Johny Gaddaar’, and more.
Govind Namdev’s dating rumors
A picture of veteran actor Govind Namdev with Shivangi Verma surfaced on the internet. And back in June 2025, he clarified about the rumors of him dating the actress. During an interaction with ETimes, he stated that the photo was part of the promotional strategy of their film ‘Gaurishankar Goharganj Wale’. He explained, “Shivangi insisted that we should have a romantic pairing, that the images needed to convey a certain chemistry. I agreed but also asked what kind of content she had in mind. She said, ‘There’s a lot. Content matters most.’ I thought, ‘Fine, let’s do it.’ But then, without informing me, she went ahead and tagged the film in a certain way. That’s where the misunderstanding started.”
What did Govind Namdev say about unfair treatment in Bollywood?
In an interview with the Lallantop, he said, “There is a major system of big and small stars, people function as per hierarchy, in terms of salaries and treatment in the film industry.” The veteran actor further shared, “If someone gets paid more, that person will get a huge vanity van, that’s how it is decided. Food heirarchy also exists on film sets. The stars have different foods, and others eat different food items.“
