A-List celebrities pass on cast calls for Luca Guadagnino’s version of ‘American Psycho’
Recently, author Bret Easton Ellis, who is the mastermind behind the book that inspired the film in the first place, shared an update about the upcoming remake. In one of his recent podcast episodes, the author revealed that a lot of actors who were being considered for the role have backed out of the casting calls. “A couple of high-profile actors, whom I can’t name, have turned it down,” he added. He also added that the first script, which was written for the remake, was not well-received by many of the actors as well. Due to this, Scott Z. Burns, who has taken on the challenge of writing the script, has come up with a brand new draft for the film.While a lot of actors have passed on the opportunity, the actor promised that the new script is much better and will easily set the remake apart from its previous versions.
About the original ‘American Psycho’
The 2000 film starred Christian Bale and is based on Ellis’ 1991 book of the same name. The story centers around a homicidal investment banker, Patrick Bateman. He hides his psychotic fantasies from the people around him; however, after a while, things get out of hand. Other than Bale, the film also starred Justin Theroux, Josh Lucas, Chloë Sevigny, Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto, and Willem Dafoe.
