Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the age of 92, ending a musical journey that spanned over eight decades and touched millions of lives across the world. She died of multiple organ failure at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Her last rites are scheduled to be held on Monday, April 13, at Shivaji Park, Mumbai.

Asha Bhosle’s son Anand Bhosle urges everyone not to gather at Shivaji Park

Asha Bhosle was admitted to the hospital on late Saturday with a chest infection and exhaustion. Her son Anand Bhosle confirmed her passing on Sunday morning and later at night addressed the media to share arrangements for her funeral.Fans wishing to pay their last respects can visit her residence, Casa Grande, in Lower Parel, Mumbai, between 10:30 am and 2 pm on Monday. He also urged everyone not to gather at the park, as it will cause issues for the general public.According to ANI, he said, “Tomorrow, from 10:30 am to 2 pm, people can come and take the last darshan of my mother at the Casa Grande building. At 4 pm, her last rites will be performed at the crematorium. I request people not to gather there, as there are chances of overcrowding.”

In a career spanning over eight decades, Asha Bhosle recorded songs for films and albums in various Indian languages and won several accolades, including two National Film Awards and a Dadasaheb Phalke Award.She won the National Film Award for ‘Dil Cheez Kya Hai’ from ‘Umrao Jaan’ and ‘Mera Kuch Saamaan’ from ‘Ijaazat’. In 2000, she was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in the field of cinema, and in 2008, she received the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honor of the country.By her own reckoning, she recorded some 12,000 songs over a career that spanned about eight decades, boasting an incredibly flexible and powerful voice that gave voice to generations of Indian actresses.
